Fiery Bringer of Arts

Burn For More Interview Series

If you ever have a chance to make it to Rockefeller plaza in New York City you’ll see an inscription behind a golden Prometheus statue that says ” Prometheus, teacher in every art brought the fire, or capsaicin in our case, that hath proved to mortals a means to mighty ends“. This speaks perfectly to how we at Prometheus Springs feel about celebrating the arts, and there is nothing we love more than when a talented young artist finds some fiery inspiration at the bottom of one of our bottles. The luminous illustrator Joseph Vincuilla had recently sent us this epic image of Prometheus holding our bottle — we loved it so much that were putting it on a T-Shirt  and simply had to know what makes him Burn For More.

Where are you originally from and how has that at all affected the development of your artistic talent?

I’m from Waltham, a city a few miles outside of Boston. I grew up in an artistically inclined family. My mother can paint very well so maybe it is in my genes. I’ve been drawing and sketching as long as I can remember, although most of my work now is digitally illustrated. This year I’m going to get back to my roots in freehand, I’m beginning to do some calligraphy too which has been refreshing.

What inspires and motivates you to Burn For More in life?

Infinity. Limitless potential for everything in every direction. Being a co-creator and co-conspirator of consciousness and manifesting ideas into tangible creativity. You cannot know everything, at least while you’re in human form, which is comforting to me but  scary to others. There is nothing more elating than having an idea out of nowhere come to you, being inspired to create. I’m very blessed to be able to experience the feeling of self gratitude after transferring my vision into shape and form.

If you could have any super powers what would they be?

Haha, I’d have to say teleportation. Everyone wants to fly but if you could teleport you could just jump out of planes and teleport before you hit the ground, so its even cooler than flying. You also would have no need for currency; there would be no limit if you were omnipresent. Maybe I’m thinking too deeply but, you asked haha.

You often design under the moniker “Omni Illume”, can you explain what exactly that means?

Omni Illume was a company / movement I began last year (2010) when I decided to start trying to bring my ideas to life instead of solely using my creativity for other people/companies. It stands for Omnipresent Illumination. I felt a responsibility of some sort to reawaken the dormant creativity and knowledge encoded in people that they are often unaware of. I want to use my art as a conduit to activate positivity and awareness in people. We’re all connected. Ultimately affecting one person can exponentially affect the collective consciousness.

When you’re not doing illustrations, how do you spend your time?

Mind expansion; activities to breed inspiration. I find myself studying my surroundings. I have a notebook I carry with me at all times, always jotting down notes, sketches, and ideas. I enjoy being social, going out, meeting new people, collaborating ideas. I also love outdoor activities, spectating the work of the real artist and creator in nature, meditation, being in the now.

If you could eat dinner with any one person all of history, who would it be?

Aleister Crowley, with Nikolai Tesla and Thoth close behind. I don’t know where to begin praising him. The wealth of knowledge he possessed is other worldly. To say he was ahead of his time is beyond an understatement. People have their opinions about him, but it’d be incredible to converse with him.

What is it about Prometheus Springs that you enjoy most and what’s your favorite flavor?

I’ve always been one to eat the spiciest things on the menu, some people can’t enjoy the meal if it’s too hot but I enjoy it, always have. I’d have to say Pomegranate Black Pepper is my favorite if I had to choose one. It starts off sweet and leaves you with a little spice on your palette, very refreshing, leaves you naturally charged. It’s easily my favorite beverage and that’s not just ass-kissin’.

What new and exciting projects are you working on right now ?

Right now www.omniillume.com has 3 prints in multiple colors (fourteen) and will have more shortly. I plan to make at least 3 prints per series. Each series will be completely different from the others. I’ve just began delving into calligraphy as well, which is a whole new exciting venture for me. I also plan to have some apparel pieces up soon which I’m really looking forward to.  Besides that there is my personal website www.vincuilla.com, which has more professional work. I’ve also been in collaboration with some good people up north in Stae Tru, a vibrant young production and creative team. Hopefully I’ll be linking up with the Team Overthrow powerhouse as well, not to mention creating more pieces for Prometheus Springs.

If you could give a little word of advice to all the kids out there who are chasing dreams, what would it be?

Its cliché and everyone else has heard it before but you truly can do anything you want. the universe is like an origami that will unfold the way you want it. Whether you think you can or you can’t you’re right. I believe Ford said it, and it’s true. The universe gives you what you want; the laws of attraction are very obedient. It only takes a shift in consciousness to realize this to be true. People should always do what they want, sans what other people think, or what you think other people will think. Positive thinking will bring positive results, there are no coincidences. People have to be who they want to be, “don’t die with your music still in you”.
